The image depicts a social gathering of members of the Lions Club and guests. The Omdurman branch of the Lions Club International was a charitable organisation set up in Omdurman, Sudan in the early 1930s. The club provided members with the opportunity to come together and help with the needs of the community in a charitable way. Stood along the fence at the back of the photograph fourth in from the right is a young Victor Giries Kattan who had come to Sudan to take over the family business from his older brothers. By the late 1930's they had established trading businesses in Chile, Japan, India and Manchester.
