The Pasha Tewfiq Mattia Kattan was a political candidate for the Jordanian government during the period of Jordanian rule over Bethlehem and the wider West Bank. The woman opposite the nun is Victor Giries Kattan's wife Marguerite Kattan (nee Mattia Kattan), and the nun is her sister Ser Mattias (Lucy Kattan).
