The photograph captures the original Kattan family house in Omdurman, Sudan. Both Habib Giries Kattan and Khalil Giries Kattan lived there with their families before they left Sudan to settle elsewhere, Habib in Manchester UK and Khalil in Santiago Chile. Some of Habib and Khalil’s other siblings later lived there. The house overlooked the cinema and William says that his elder relatives used to enjoy sitting on the balcony watching the cinema.
