This photograph features Paolo Di Bona and Mario Barbagallo, son of Josephine Barbagallo (nee Giries Kattan) dressed to entertain fellow Italian male civilians who were interred during the Second World War in a camp in El Obeid. All civilian Italian nationals living and working in Sudan were interred in camps until the end of the war. Mario went on to marry Maria Cimino, the sister of a soldier who was also held in this internment camp.
