This is a digital reproduction of an icon depicting Saint Elias ascending into heaven and giving his cloak to his disciple Elisha, held in St. George Church which is under St. Nicholas Church, Beit Jala, a short distance from Bethlehem. The icon is painted in the Jerusalem Style of the 19th and early 20th century and is located at the wall of the church on the left side next to the iconostasis. The size of the icon is 72 X 117 cm. The Arabic inscription reads: "the ascention of Glorious Prophet Elias from Thisbe in the chariot of fire", "Elisha" and "Elisha when he struck the water of the Jordan River with the cloak of Elias".
