This is a digital reproduction of an icon depicting the Ascension of Jesus Christ, held in St. Nicholas Church, Beit Jala, a short distance from Bethlehem. The icon is painted in the Jerusalem Style of the late 19th and early 20th century and is located at the church iconostasis, 1st row from the top, 4th icon to the left side of the main icon of the Crucifixion. The size is 37 X 28 cm. The Arabic inscription reads: "the Transfiguration of Christ" and the Greek inscription reads: "the Ascension of Christ" and below "Gift from the custodian Rev. Seraphim, 1850".
