This is a digital reproduction of an icon depicting the birth of Saint John the Baptist, held in St. Nicholas Church, Beit Jala, a short distance from Bethlehem. The icon is painted in the Jerusalem Style of the late 19th and early 20th century and is located at the church iconostasis, 1st row, 11th and last icon to the right side of the main icon of the Crucifixion. The size is 37 X 28 cm. The Greek and Arabic inscription at the top read: "Birth of St. John the Baptist" and below ""Gift from the custodian Rev. Seraphim, 1850".
