This is a digital reproduction of a portable icon depicting Saint Elias ascending into Heaven, held in St. Nicholas Church, Beit Jala, a short distance from Bethlehem. The icon is painted in the Jerusalem Style of the late 19th and early 20th century and is located at the church iconostasis, 4th icon to the right side of the main entrance (royal/altar) door. The size is 27 X 36 cm. The Arabic inscription reads: "Saint Elias the Prophet", and "gift by Salem Abu al-Sabal and his brothers and their sons 1929".
