This is a digital reproduction of an image held in the Library of Congress. These images depict Eric Matson’s detailed diary entries for the entirety of 1943. Eric Matson was one of the leading photographers of the American Colony in Jerusalem who moved to Colony as a young child with his family from Sweden. These entries are shorter in comparison with other years (such as 1942) as he describes four days per page in the diary. Many of the entries describe global events during the the Second World War and his opinions of them. There are also descriptions of wartime conditions in Palestine and his work as director of the American Colony Photo Department.
