Helwa Qumsieh (born 1913 from Beit Sahour) interviewed Rana Halal on 3 December 2006. She discusses the following: locust plague - her father explained to her how people starved during this period and sometimes they used to eat the locusts after cooking them; her grandfather paid for her uncle to avoid conscription under Ottoman rule but was eventually killed; story of a man who was in hiding; situation improved after the British came.
