Title: Peace Talks
Description: This collection documents the various rounds of peace talks that eventually brought an end to the war in El Salvador of 1979-1992. As one of the five leaders of the rebel FMLN, Schafik Hándal (from a Bethlehemite family long settled in El Salvador) was one of the principal figures in the talks. The talks culminated in the Chapultepec Peace Accords, signed on January 16, 1992.

The collection consists of photographs and documents held in the Instituto Schafik Hándal in San Salvador, El Salvador. Descriptions of the images are provided in both English and Spanish.
